Senate GOP bill would give inspector general more autonomy

Republicans in the Illinois Senate unveiled a bill Wednesday that would give the legislative inspector general independent authority to launch investigations and issue subpoenas, something that previous inspectors general have also urged. Senate Bill 2297 was introduced Wednesday by Sen. Jason Barickman, R-Bloomington, and 17 other Republicans.

Senate passes bill limiting insulin costs

Many Illinoisans who suffer from Type 1 diabetes would see a significant reduction in their out-of-pocket costs for prescription insulin under a bill that cleared the state Senate on Tuesday. An amendment to Senate Bill 667, sponsored by Sen. Andy Manar, D-Bunker Hill, would cap the price for a 30-day supply of insulin at $100 for people covered under certain kinds of insurance policies.
