For now, little power behind push by clean energy advocates

Hundreds of clean energy advocates gathered Tuesday at the Capitol to show support for the Clean Energy Jobs Act, a carbon-cutting reform package that has stalled at the state government level amid ongoing federal investigations. While several of the bills’ Democratic supporters spoke, they did not give a legislative schedule update on a potential hearing for the bills, which continue to await committee assignments.

NCAA calls for schools to allow student-athletes to profit from their likeness

On the same day a bill allowing college student-athletes to profit from the use of their name or likeness passed an Illinois House committee Tuesday, the governing body that oversees most collegiate athletics took steps toward allowing such activity at a national level.  The vote by the NCAA Board of Governors came just hours after House Bill 3904 passed through a committee.
