Senate Education Committee votes to increase statewide teacher minimum wage

The minimum wage for Illinois teachers has been stagnant for nearly 40 years, but a bill which passed the state Senate’s education committee Tuesday would give it a big bump. The bill would raise the minimum wage to $40,000 annually by the 2023-2024 school year.
