He just can’t get enough of reporting from capitols. Before becoming a founding member of the CNI news team, Peter covered the Kansas statehouse for many years as both a newspaper and broadcast reporter. He has deep family roots in Illinois and Springfield in particular. When he’s not reporting, he hangs with his cat, Tux, explores the capital city and reads about Illinois history. He’s also a very vocal support of the Jayhawks (he’s a KU alum), Chiefs (Super Bowl champs!) and Royals.

WHEN HE’S NOT WORKING WITH CNI: Peter enjoys following sports, listening to music, spending time with his cat Tux and binge-watching programs on streaming TV. He also enjoys exploring Springfield and reading about Illinois history. He has one grown son.

WHY HE JOINED CNI: Peter has deep family roots in Illinois, and Springfield in particular. He came here to help ensure that the people of this state have access to accurate, unbiased information about what’s happening in their state and their community.

WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO KNOW ABOUT CNI: We are here to uphold the most fundamental traditions of public affairs reporting: to explain in clear, understandable terms, what is happening in state government, why it’s happening and who’s making it happen. And we do it without favor or prejudice.

WHERE HE SEES CNI IN THE FUTURE: Capitol News Illinois will continue to grow and evolve as the needs and interests of Illinois residents continue to change. Through it all, though, I believe CNI’s core mission of bringing accurate, unbiased information about state government will stay the same.
