Jerry NowickiFollow me @NowickiPress

A steady, thorough and consistent leader of the reporting team who has been with CNI from its beginning. He is as committed to CNI’s civic-minded focus as he is to his Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fandom. Jerry stands out in reporting crowds at the Capitol – he’s tall in height and stature. Perhaps to prove his Springfield cred, he and his wife, Amelia, were married in the Old State Capitol. He became a dad in 2021 when Eleanor was born.

WHEN HE’S NOT WORKING WITH CNI: Jerry enjoys spending time with his wife, Amelia, and daughter, Eleanor, who was born in December 2021. He’s also a fan of White Sox baseball and Chicago Bears football.

WHY HE JOINED CNI: He was excited about the civic-minded focus shared by CNI Editor Jeff Rogers during interviews and invigorated by the opportunity to learn about state government as a function of the job.

WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO KNOW ABOUT CNI: Our reporters are independent, thorough and dedicated to bringing detailed, digestible stories to our readers in a variety of formats.

WHERE HE SEES CNI IN THE FUTURE: “In many ways, it feels like the future is now for CNI. As someone who has watched it grow from a team of four to a team of more than 10, I can say we’ve firmly entered a new era. As far as next steps go, we look forward to expanding our broadcast and multimedia operations while building a more engaging and interactive website to serve our readers across the state.”.
