Illinois economy adds 59,100 jobs in past year

The Illinois economy has added 59,100 jobs over the past 12 months, while the overall unemployment rate dropped only a tenth of a point, to 4.3 percent, the Illinois Department of Employment Security said Thursday.

The preliminary, seasonally-adjusted numbers for February showed the state’s jobless rate was still higher than the national average of 3.8 percent.
