CAPITOL NEWS DAILY: Budget hearings ramp up

Agencies, universities continue to feel sting of a crippling state budget impasse that ended in 2017

The negotiations and committee hearings that make up the state’s budgeting process are underway as universities and state agencies petition lawmakers for funding increases to address problems that accrued in the two years the state went without a budget from 2015 to 2017.

A number of other bills moved this week too, including one to partially ban red light cameras, one creating a domestic violence task force and another taking aim at a chemical used in pavement sealant.

Capitol News Illinois had a full slate of coverage of these and other issues at the Statehouse, including a story and photos from the treasurer’s Black History Month ceremony Thursday in the Capitol Rotunda.

All of this and more was in this morning's Capitol News Daily email newsletter that is sent free to subscribers!
